What movies and what kind of movies are you favorite ever? What movies have impressed you deeply?
I like all cinema genres. From drama to comedy, through action, war, film noir, thriller, foreign and documentary... I have a passion for horror films, though. The first movie I ever say was at age 10. It was The Evil Dead. After that movie, I spend two nights filled with nightmares. But my curiosity was stronger and I went back for more. Until the age of 15, all I watched were horror films. And then at high school, I discovered a guy named Orson Welles, whose movies were playing as part as a cine club cycle. I had no idea who he was and what kind of movies he directed. Man, was I surprised! The Welles cycle broadened my film horizon and from that day on, I watched all I could watch. Robert Wise's The Haunting impressed me a lot. Or how to make an amazing horror flick with slamming doors and shadows. Wow. Then came the Leone westerns, the Kubrick flicks and some Gene Kelly musicals. Different styles but all left an impression on me.
What was the last memorable movie you saw?
The last memorable movie I saw must have been The Hurt Locker. I wish I had produced that movie. Kathryn Bigelow is such a great filmmaker. And so underrated! I'm sad it took Oscars for Lalaland producers to realize they had an amazing director trying to get financing. Near Dark is simply the best vampire movie ever made. Point Break, Strange Days... She was just ahead of her time and no one understood that.
What artists/performers have impressed you lately or who are your favourite artist/performers/bands?
I have always been a great admirer of Joss Whedon and Sam Raimi and I wish they would direct more movies. I was very impressed by Casey Affleck's performance in The Killer Inside Me, which I saw at the Berlin Film Festival. It blew me away. And I love Josh Brolin. I kept an eye on him since Best Laid Plans. That was freakin' good movie. See where he is today? I'm impressed by the new generation of actors such as Kyle Gallner, Ellen Page, Thomas Decker, Ben Foster, Jake Gyllenhaal (although I think Jake sold himself on Prince of Persia) and still am a fan of the 80's stars such as John Cusack (he's so funny in Hot Tub Time Machine), Matthew Broderick, Kiefer Sutherland, Emilio Estevez, Lou Diamond Phillips, Anthony Michael Hall or Eric Stolz (where did you go, Eric?).
What kind of music have you listened to lately or feel happy to suggest?
I mainly listen to film scores. I follow the works of Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard, John Powell, Klaus Badelt, Brian Tyler, Danny Elfmann, Marco Beltrmi and love Craig Armstrong. John Powell's score to How to Train Your Dragon brought me to tears (listen to the amazing piece "Forbidden Friendship"). It is powerful and emotional.
Tänan Annick!
Kaader filmist Near Dark.
Kas seda The Killer Inside Me'd on võimalik ka kuskilt leida?
"Near Dark" failis ikka igal levelil (võibolla mitte twilighti levelil, aga see on fail by default anyway).
